Midweek Advent Services — Lord Jesus Christ
In the weeks leading up to the glorious celebration of the birth of our Lord, we will explore who He is and why He was born through three of the names the Scriptures give Him: Lord, Jesus, and Christ. Lord is a title. Jesus is the true Lord. Jesus is the name given to Him at His birth. It means that He will save His people from their sins. Christ is a title. It means Messiah and Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah, the Savior for sins. Names can be much more than just names. When we say that the one born of the Virgin Mary is the Lord Jesus Christ we are saying that He is above all, our gracious God, and the Savior all humanity needs. Each week leading up to Christmas we will rejoice that God’s Son is the Lord Jesus Christ.
